What was the most mundane item that you used that really has cool tech behind it? What is the tech? You focus on the characters and the story, not on the technology. Rules that you could follow but not hindered by reality. I wanted it to be believable but not accurate. How real do you think the science is in your book? It’s a distant solar system where most planets are nations and initiate a very destructive war between each other. It has hints of the 1940’s but is mostly a Space-age interplanetary civilization with massive spaceships. I chose another solar system far away from ours to be able to world build and recreate something like the WW2’s Battle of the Atlantic in Space. Fans were quick to point it out to me… Why did you choose this setting? I found out (a bit too late, actually) that smoke doesn’t propagate in Space. What was the most surprising thing you found out while researching/writing your latest book? Igazán nehéz dolgom van ennek a könyvnek az értékelésével. It is an evocation of the lives and the language of all people who are called to the valley of Thursbitch. Alan Garner's second novel for adults is a visionary fable, firmly rooted in a verifiable place. John Turner's death in the C18th leaves an emotional charge which, in the C21st, Ian and Sal find affects their relationship, challenging the perceptions they have of themselves and of each other. In the novel he brings ideas as well as gifts that have come, by many short journeys, from market town to market town, from places as distant as the campfires of the Silk Road. With his train of horses he carried salt and silk travelling distances incomprehensible to his ancient and static community. Thursbitch is an exploration of the C18th mystery a mystery that lives on in the farms of the area. „HERE JOHN TURNER WAS CAST AWAY IN A HEAVY SNOW STORM IN THE NIGHT IN THE YEAR 1755” "THE PRINT OF A WOMAN'S SHOE WAS FOUND BY HIS SIDE IN THE SNOW WHERE HE LAY DEAD" This enigmatic tombstone, high on the bank of a prehistoric Pennine track, has haunted Alan Garner for 50 years. Harris has made a documentary titled “I Survived I Kissed Dating Goodbye,” in reference to his book on dating “I Kissed Dating Goodbye.” In the film, produced and directed by fellow graduate student Jessica Van Der Wyngaard, Harris reevaluates his beliefs. But this time, his message departs from his conservative teaching on sexuality and dating. Writer and one-time Pastor Joshua Harris is once more trying to reach American Evangelicals through media.
